Is there an official PTE to IELTS conversion?

Yes. Pearson publishes a concordance between PTE Academic and IELTS Academic, updated in July 2025 for the refreshed test. It gives a minimum PTE score for each IELTS band, and this tool reads those rows without interpolating between them.

Can I use a converted score for a visa or a university application?

No. Institutions and visa streams name the test they accept and the score they want on that test. A concordance tells you roughly where you stand if you switch tests. It is not a score anyone will accept on paper.

Why is PTE to TOEFL shown as a comparison rather than a conversion?

Pearson has said it will publish updated relationships with other test providers, TOEFL included, for the refreshed PTE Academic. Until it does there is no direct table to transcribe, so this tool pivots through the IELTS band that Pearson and ETS each publish against, and labels the result.

Why does the CEFR level not match between two tests?

Because the test owners do not place the CEFR boundaries in the same spot. Pearson aligns PTE 59 to 75 with B2, ETS aligns TOEFL 72 to 94 with B2, and IELTS calls its own alignment approximate. So a CEFR answer here is always read from the source test's own published alignment rather than converted through a third test.

Which PTE test does this cover?

PTE Academic. PTE Core is a separate test for Canadian immigration and it reports against the Canadian Language Benchmarks per skill, so it has its own page.
