KoorooPTE vs APEUni vs Gurully: Which Should You Choose in 2026?

Kooroo product and practice guidance reviewed on 30 October 2026. We may make mistakes; check Pearson's current task guidance and the question's feedback availability. Kooroo scores are practice estimates, not official Pearson results or predictions of an examiner's decision.
All three platforms score PTE practice with AI. The real differences are in what happens after the score. APEUni gives you a large question bank and a big community to browse. Gurully gives you mock tests, monthly prediction updates, and ready-made task templates. KoorooPTE builds a day-by-day plan from your goal and exam date, and marks your responses down to individual traits rather than one number. Here is what each one actually offers, sourced from each platform's own site.
What's the core difference between these three platforms?
The fastest way to tell them apart is what you land on after you sign up. On APEUni, you land in a question bank you browse and choose from yourself, backed by a large, active community sharing recent exam questions. On Gurully, you land in a mock-test library with monthly prediction updates and a set of proven templates for tasks like the essay, Re-tell Lecture, and Describe Image. On KoorooPTE, you land in a plan built from your track, target score, and exam date, which tells you what to practise next and why, rather than asking you to choose.
None of these approaches is wrong for every learner. A self-directed learner who wants to explore a huge bank at their own pace is well served by a bank-first platform. A learner who wants to be told what to do each day, with a reason, is what KoorooPTE is built for.
What does APEUni offer?
APEUni is the category's largest platform by user volume, with a big, vocal community that shares recent exam questions, and free AI scoring on speaking and writing tasks. It covers both PTE Academic and PTE Core, is mobile-first with a web app that exists alongside it, and runs on a freemium model with paid VIP tiers unlocking fuller access. Its strength is genuinely the volume and the community, if what you want is to browse a large bank and see what other test-takers recently reported.
What does Gurully offer?
Gurully centres on mock tests: a large library of full-length PTE Academic and PTE Core mocks with instant AI scoring across a range of factors, plus unlimited question-wise practice by section. Its own site advertises prediction files updated monthly against recent exam trends, and proven templates for tasks including the essay, Re-tell Lecture, and Describe Image. It runs on a subscription, with the first mock test free.
Worth knowing before you rely on those templates: Pearson's own Score Guide states that a response built from pre-prepared or memorised material is classified as an irrelevant response and scores Content 0, and a Content score of 0 cancels every other trait on that task. Essay, Describe Image, and Re-tell Lecture are three of the highest template-risk tasks on the current exam, per that same rule. Our do PTE templates still work in 2026 guide covers exactly which tasks carry that risk and why a reusable structure is different from a memorised script.
What does KoorooPTE do differently?
Kooroo builds a daily plan from your track, target, exam date and available study time. Scored tasks show the applicable traits, which differ by task. Template feedback can flag phrasing for review on supported tasks; it does not predict the exact judgement of a Pearson examiner. The free and premium feedback boundary is described below.
Content is built separately for each track: PTE Core's 19 task types are not Academic material relabelled, since four Academic tasks, including Write Essay and Summarise Group Discussion, do not exist on Core, and Core's own Write Email task has no Academic equivalent at all. Our PTE Core vs PTE Academic guide covers the full distinction if you are unsure which track you need.
A free Kooroo account lets you attempt questions and sit mocks. Free questions include marking and applicable AI feedback; free mocks include reports. A one-time VIP pass unlocks marking and feedback on premium questions and reports for premium mocks. Kooroo is available on web, Android and iPhone.
Side by side

- Free to try. KoorooPTE: yes, no card required. APEUni: yes, free scoring. Gurully: yes, first mock free.
Treat every line above as a snapshot: pricing tiers and feature lists across all three platforms change often enough that we would rather send you to each one's current page than let a number here go stale. Our 10 PTE practice platforms compared guide covers what to check on any platform before you pay, beyond just these three.
Which one should you actually choose?
Pick APEUni if you want the largest available question bank and an active community around recent exam questions, and you are comfortable choosing what to practise yourself. Pick Gurully if a large mock-test library with monthly prediction updates fits how you study. Pick KoorooPTE if you want a plan that tells you what to practise each day and why, feedback specific enough to know exactly which trait is holding a task back, and a one-time price instead of a recurring one.
Whichever you choose, remember every third-party AI score, ours included, is a trained approximation of Pearson's rubric, not Pearson's actual scoring engine, so read any score as a trend across weeks of practice rather than a guaranteed preview of test day.

Frequently asked questions
Is KoorooPTE better than APEUni?
Choose by the preparation you need. Kooroo builds a daily plan from your target and exam date, with marking and applicable AI traits on free questions and premium feedback with a VIP pass. Compare the current question coverage, feedback examples and price of each provider before purchasing.
Does Gurully cover PTE Core?
Yes, Gurully's own site lists PTE Core practice and mock tests alongside PTE Academic. So do APEUni and KoorooPTE. Coverage existing is not the same as content built for Core specifically rather than adapted from Academic material, so check whether a platform's Core items differ from its Academic items or reuse the same bank.
Do APEUni or Gurully use AI scoring?
Yes, both advertise AI scoring on speaking and writing tasks, as does KoorooPTE. Treat any third-party AI score, ours included, as a practice estimate rather than a guarantee of your real Pearson result, since none of these platforms runs Pearson's actual scoring engine.
Is KoorooPTE a subscription like APEUni or Gurully?
No. KoorooPTE prices as a one-time pass, not a recurring subscription. APEUni runs a freemium model with paid VIP tiers, and Gurully runs a subscription. Check each platform's own pricing page for current numbers, since pricing on all of these changes.
Should I avoid templates from PTE prep platforms?
Be cautious with fixed, memorised templates on the tasks Pearson's Score Guide targets hardest: Write Essay, Describe Image, and Re-tell Lecture among them. A response built from pre-prepared material scores Content 0, which cancels the task's other marks too. A reusable structure is different from a memorised script; our do PTE templates still work in 2026 guide covers the distinction task by task.
